The first stage of studies is for those applicants that have shown themselves to be artistically talented but are not yet ready to study at the professional studies level. Places for this course will be offered to students that the auditioning panel feel could possibly achieve the necessary standard in four semesters.
Students will have to complete a certain number of supplementary subjects.
At the end of the course students will have the opportunity to be assessed by the auditioning panel. This replaces the entrance audition for the Diploma or Teaching Certificate courses.
The course lasts for a maximum of four semesters.
Principal Study lessons are 50 minutes per week.
The diploma program is intended to train musicians in all our disciplines to the highest standards towards acquiring the Artistic Diploma.
The course lasts 8 semesters in the first cycle and 4 semesters in the second cycle.
At the Richard Wagner Konservatorium there are 5 departments:
· Theory and Solo Singing
· Keyboard instruments
· String and plucked instruments
· Woodwind and Brass
· IGP (Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy)
Students at the Richard Wagner Konservatorium can study: Conducting, Music Theory and Composition, Vocal Studies, Piano, Organ, Accordion, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Guitar, Recorder, Basson, Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone and Tuba.
Students in all disciplines studying on the diploma course will have the following classes: Principal instrument, Harmony, Analyses of Musical Form, Solfeggio, Practical Studies (applying theory knowledge on piano), Orchestra, Music History, Chamber Music, Orchestral Instrumentation, Instrument studies – Acoustics, Choral Studies, Score Reading and Second Study Piano.

The Teaching Certificate / IGP studies is for training highly qualified musicians. Upon successful completion of the course an IGP Teaching Diploma will be issued. Teaching diploma is required for graduates who wish to work in education and has aded subjects of Elementary Education and Pedagogical studies.
